More Nutritional Support on the Wards after a Previous Intensive Care Unit Stay: A nutritionDay Analysis in 136,667 Patients

ICU (intensive care unit) patients are exposed to nutritional risks such as swallowing problems and delayed gastric emptying. A previous stay may affect support upon transfer the ward. The aim was study use of enteral (EN), parenteral nutrition (PN), oral supplements (ONS) in ward with without a stay, also referred post- non-ICU patients. In total, 136,667 adult from nutritionDay audit 2010–2019 were included. defined an during current hospitalisation before nutritionDay. About 10% all post-ICU Post-ICU more frequently risk factors BMI < 18.5 kg/m2, weight loss, decreased mobility, fair or poor health status, less eating longer hospital length nDay. Two main results shown. First, both inadequately fed: two thirds than half meal did not receive EN, PN, ONS.
